I am new to usetasks.  Great service.  I am having problems however using recurring tasks.  I have activated recurring tasks in the admin preferences however tasks I created and completed yesterday are not recurring today.  Please help.

Hi, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you provide more details on the settings you've chosen for your recurring task (perhaps a screenshot), the expected behavior, and the observed behavior?

This will help us assist you.

Not sure how to attach a screen shot.  Sorry.  I had expected when I checked the "enable recurring tasks" check box under the server settings in usetasks that after marking a recurring tasks complete (such as a task set up to recur daily), the next days tasks would appear in the same heirarchy with a new due date (i.e. the next day).  However, when I mark a recurring task complete, it is deleted without recurring.  Thanks for your help

What settings did you use when creating the task? For example, what was the task's due date? What was the recurrence setting? What date did you set for the recurrence to end?

The tasks due date was 03/29, the recurring tasks check box is checked and the set recurrence is set to every 1 day with an end date of 12/31/2038

What day was the task created?

I believe I created it on the 28th.  But have retried creating a recurring task since then to no avail

If you want a task to recur every day, set it up as follows:

1. Create a new task
2. Set the due date to tomorrow
3. Set the recurrence to 1 day
4. Set the end date to whatever you like
5. Save

That'll do it.

I also followed these steps, and have tasks recurring daily, weekly, and monthly. All were set to future dates and saved. So now I have tasks I later marked completed but which do not show up anymore as due, either the original or a newer, "automagically" created task.

What do I need to do to get this working?

New tasks should appear after the due date from the previous:

I agree they "should" appear. I have read the documentation and this forum numerous times. I only expect what is documented.

I see that people complain here, and once they complain here the feature starts working for them. I was hoping that would work for me, too.

I don't think we did anything on the previous issues, but if you'd like to provide the URL of your account, we can take a look and see if we see any issues.

Has a fix been found for this? I have the same problem as above. steps as follows:-

new task
date due = tomorrow
check recurring task box
recurrence every 1 day
end date 31/8/2010
save

Task is correctly saved with recurring task icon.

Then when I mark the task complete, it removes the task and no other occurrences are visible.

I am using a trial version but interested in purchasing the hosted subscription of Taskspro. URL is http://crowdfavorite.com/tasks-pro/tria ... /index.php

thanks

That sounds like it's working as expected.

Thanks. It appears I do not have "recurring task activation" set up on the server.

How is this recurring task activation enabled on the hosted service?

Activation is done automatically for Use Tasks accounts.

Hi again

On the "Tasks Pro™ » How Do Recurring Tasks Work?" documentation page it states:

"On the first of the month, you see only the original occurrence of the task you created. On the second, the next occurrence of the task appears (you need to configure recurring task activation for this to happen). If the task from the first hasn't been marked complete or deleted, you will see two occurrences of the task"

I subscribe to the hosted version and understand recurring task activation is already set up.
With my test daily recurring task, I do not see the next occurrence of the task on the 2nd day, instead it shows the number of days overdue.  However I set up the test when I mark it as complete there is no future task and it disappears from the tree list. I'm then required to show the completed tasks, and re-create it.

I'm happy to purchase a token if this is a user error or I need support.

many thanks

I checked the log and it appears that 3 recurring tasks were successfully activated this morning for your account.

Thanks for taking a look.

Having marked the recurring tasks complete, as I anticipated, they no longer appear in the tree list and only return in the search page where "include completed tasks" is checked. So the only conclusion I can draw is that the tasks do no re-create themselves i.e. do not recur.

I may just as well tag the the tasks with some text and train the users to re-set the task and not mark them as complete.

Your confirmation on the first point so i can close the matter & continue with the proposed work around would be much appreciated.

cheers

I know that many of our customers use this feature extensively, so I'm pretty sure it's working - at least for them.

I have created a recurring task in a test account to confirm this is working correctly and will advise after observing how it behaves over the weekend.

On Friday I created 2 recurring tasks with slightly different recurrence settings. I checked them today and both worked exactly as expected and I now have 3 of one and 4 of the other visible.

I'm sorry that this doesn't appear to be working for you. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the issue may be. A support token might be a good way to proceed if you would wish to do a screen sharing session or similar to troubleshoot.
